President Dan Reneau talks about the elevation of Louisiana Tech to the First Tier of US News & World Report's 2012 Best Colleges List

September 14, 2011

Dear Tech Family,

U. S. News & World Report has released its 2012 Best Colleges list and for the first time in our history, Louisiana Tech University achieved a Tier I ranking among National Universities.  This is an unprecedented achievement for our institution and one that is unrivalled anywhere in our region.

Louisiana Tech President Dan ReneauLouisiana Tech was the only university in the state, classified as a “National University,” to be elevated to a higher tier, and we are one of only two public universities in Louisiana to achieve a First Tier ranking – the other being LSU-Baton Rouge.  For the third consecutive year, we were also ranked in the top ten nationally for graduating students with the least amount of debt.

In addition to our Tier I ranking, we were one of just two institutions in Louisiana ranked among the nation’s Top Public Universities (along with LSU-Baton Rouge.)  Our undergraduate engineering programs and undergraduate business programs were ranked nationally as well.

These rankings are a direct result of your performance and perseverance.  Louisiana Tech improved upon its 2011 scores in nearly every category used in calculating the rankings.  You should all be very proud of this recognition and what we have been able to achieve as a campus community.

I want to extend a most sincere congratulations and thank you to every member of our faculty and staff who have worked so hard, in the midst of some incredible challenges, to take Louisiana Tech to heights it has never seen before.  This accomplishment truly belongs to you.

Thank you for your passion for and commitment to the advancement of our Louisiana Tech University.  It is truly a source of inspiration.

Daniel D. Reneau
President
